Applications are invited for admission to Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose Ratings.
The Tamil Nadu Maritime Academy. Thoothukudi is an institution approved by D.G. Shipping Govt. of India offers Pre-Sea Training Course for General Purpose Ratings which qualifies candidates to service as a Rating onboard merchant navy ships (Indian and Foreign Ships).
Eligibility: Unmarried male and must have passed 10th standard, S.S.L.C. or equivalent examination from Recognised Board with Science, Mathematics and English as subjects. Final selection will be subject to pass in written test, interview, eye test examination at Chennai and medical fitness test at tuticorin by D.G. Shipping approved doctors.
Age: Must have completed 17 ½ years and should be below 21 years as on 01/03/2004
Course Duration: The course duration is 4 months for the main course and 11 days for STCW modular courses, excluding Sundays and Govt. holidays.
Seats Available: 40
Course Fee: Course fees is Rs.60,000/- (Rupees sixty thousand only) to be paid in one instalment at the time of admission.
Date of Commencement of Course: 01 March 2004 (Tentative) The successful completion of this course does not guarantee onboard training which is mandatory for employment.
Prospectus and application form can be obtained from the Director of the Academy at the address given below by sending a written request with a non-refundable crossed Demand Draft for Rs.300/- drawn on any nationalised bank in favour of Tamil Nadu Maritime Academy payable at Chennai, along with a self addressed stamped envelope of seize 27cm X 12 cm.
